What is a certification mark?

Certification marks on a commercial product are usually referred to as a validity mark or an indication that the product has been checked by the supplier and has ensured that it meets the quality standard.

It also helps to define the place of the source, building materials, manufacturing process, characteristics of the nice, etc. Some of these marks are mandatory while others are advisory.
A certificate mark attests to the quality or source of the goods or services to which it was applied.

Who sets these marks?

The special body known as the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which comes under the auspices of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), governs all industrial standardization and industrial product certification in India.

It is therefore an association of Indian national standards.

1.ISI Mark

For the generic industrial products in India, this mark is the most known mark.

The tag certifies that the material meets the standards laid down by the BIS, referred to as IS: xxx above the product.

However, it is mandatory for a number of products sold in India, in particular electronic goods.

But it is optional in the case of other manufactured products. Since 1955, it has been successful.

2.AGMARK

This label is issued by the Government of India's Directorate of Marketing and Inspection and refers to agricultural products.

AGMARK is legally enforced in India by the Law on Agricultural Products (Grading and Marking) of 1937 (amended in 1986).

Agmark certification is used by state-owned AGMARK laboratories located across the country, which serve as testing and certification centers.

In addition to the Central AGMARK Laboratory (CAL) in Nagpur, the Regional AGMARK Laboratories (RALs) are located in 11 nodal cities (Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur, Kochi, Guntur, Amritsar, Jaipur, Rajkot, Bhopal).

That regional laboratory is provided with products of local significance and specializes in testing them. Therefore, the range of products that could be examined differs across the centers.

3.FPO Mark

The FPO mark is a mandatory certification mark for all processed fruit products sold in India pursuant to the 2006 Food Safety and Standards Act, such as packaged fruit drinks, fruit preserves, crushes and squashes, pickles, dehydrated fruit products and fruit extracts.

The FPO label ensures that the product has been produced in a hygienic' food-safe' atmosphere, thus ensuring that the product is appropriate for consumption.

4.BIS HALLMARK

Despite India being the second largest market for gold and its accessories, it is very important to have a checked tag on them for the gold bought by customers.

The BIS Hallmark is a hallmark scheme for selling precious metal such as gold and silver jewelry in India which certifies the metal's purity.

This verifies that the jewelry is in accordance with the standards set by the Indian Requirements Bureau.

5. The Non-Polluting Vehicle Mark

The Non-Polluting Vehicle Mark is a mandatory registration mark for all new vehicles sold in India.

The label certifies that the motor vehicle complies with the relevant Bharat Stage emission standards model.

But then this mark will only be valid for six months and a fresh test is expected after that.

6. Indian Organic certification

India Organic is a certification mark made in India for organic food products.

The certification mark certifies that the organic food product complies with the National Organic Product Guidelines defined in 2000.

Without the use of pesticides, contaminants or hormones produced, these criteria mean that plants and raw materials used in meat are grown through organic farming.

The certification shall be issued by the testing centers accredited to the Government of India under the National Organic Production Program of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
